Thorben Consulting, LLC is seeking an AWS Cloud Engineer with a strong background in DevSecOps and automation. Candidates should have 5-7 years of experience designing and building infrastructure as code (IaC) and continuous integration / continuous deployment (CI/CD) pipelines for the delivery of AWS solutions. The Role

This AWS Cloud Engineer role will be supporting one of our Federal customers. As such, candidates must meet the following requirements to be considered:

● MUST be a US Citizen
● MUST have an active DoD SECRET clearance or be eligible to obtain one

In this role, you will work with our Federal customer’s Cloud Team to design and implement initiatives to modernize, optimize, and standardize systems in an AWS environment. This work will span multiple organizations and require working with vendors and additional teams to design and implement pilot solutions and package these solutions for deployment into the operational environment. The AWS Cloud Engineer will be expected to take a concept idea and independently progress the concept through the plan, code, build, test, and release phases of the solution’s life cycle utilizing their expertise in DevSecOps principles and AWS services.

Key Responsibilities

The primary responsibility of the position will be to design, build (through scripting and automation), troubleshoot, and maintain solutions for customer systems in the AWS.
● Design, develop, and implement secure AWS cloud infrastructure solutions to achieve customer success while adhering to best practices and security principles
● Implement and maintain infrastructure as code (IaC) and continuous integration/continuous delivery (CI/CD) pipelines, ensuring version control and repeatability of infrastructure deployments
● Proactively collaborate with cross-functional teams to troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues, ensuring optimal system performance and reliability
● Contribute to the development of internal documentation, including architectural diagrams, technical specifications, and process documentation
● Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and improvement
● Evangelize the adoption of DevSecOps principles, improving environment security and reliability
● Successfully collaborate across various technology disciplines.
● Maintain up-to-date knowledge of AWS services, security best practices, and emerging industry trends

Qualifications

● Candidate must be a US Citizen
● Active DoD SECRET clearance or eligibility to obtain one
● At least 5-7 years of experience working in AWS and with DevSecOps tooling
● Associate-level or higher AWS certification
● Demonstrated experience in implementing and managing DevSecOps processes and tools such as CI/CD pipelines (GitLab, CodePipeline, Jenkins) and IaC frameworks (CloudFormation, CDK, Terraform)
● Proficiency in one or more general use programing/scripting languages (Python, NodeJS, Bash, PowerShell) and version control systems (Git)
● Strong knowledge of AWS security best practices, including network security, encryption, and identity management
● Experience with OS and network administration
● Familiarity with monitoring, logging, and alerting tools (CloudWatch, Splunk, Elastic)
● Familiarity with containerization and orchestration technologies (Docker, Kubernetes)
● Excellent communication skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
● Ability to work with ambiguous and abstract concepts, as the candidate will often have to resolve complex customer inquiries
● Ability to multi-task and flex when priorities change
● Ability to influence through teamwork and collaboration

Preferred Skills & Education:

Job Type: Full-time
Pay: $130,000 – $150,000 per year
